The Sea Scouts (formerly known as Sea Explorers) is a program of the Boy Scouts of America open to all young men and women ages 14(and out of the 8th grade) through 21.
Ship 225 is based in Westlake, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie. It meets at St. Bernadette parish and the Cleveland waterfront. During the summer, the members of the ship's crew learn to sail aboard Our 30 ft. Islander sailboat which is docked at Spitzers marina in Lorain, OH. We also have 2 Club fj's a conoe a motor boat and 2 wind surfers. We also learn boating safety and navigation. The summer season is also the time for a long cruise. A trip aboard our own boats to the Lake Eire Islands ,and Ceadar Point or perhaps a cruise on a U.S. Navy warship. The Fall brings opportunities to visit the nation's marine acadamies, Annapolis, Kings Point, or The Coast Guard Acadamy. Winter is for social activities such as skiing, bowling, water saftey classes and planing for the next boating season.
